Tonawanda, N.Y.

In 2009, Lafarge won a contract with the town of Tonawanda in Kenmore, NY to pave a local highway.  Lafarge's asphalt sales team worked closely with the mayor and highways superintendant to promote the use of the company's Duraclime™ asphalt for the job based on its superior environmental credentials.  Lafarge was permitted to use 500 imperial tons of the material, and Tonawanda became the first town in western New York state to try the innovative asphalt.

The contract was a huge success story and was highlighted on WGRZ Channel 2 News in Buffalo, N.Y. The scheme and Duraclime won a showcase award by the New York State Construction Materials Association.
