Learning objectives:


  • Compliance: Understand that many sections of various green/sustainable codes and specifications are benefited by, and benefit, masonry.
  • Energy efficiency: Understand that masonry performs with no maintenance and no emissions at zero cost for the life of the building.
  • Sound transmission: Understand that masonry mitigates indoor/outdoor and interior sound transmission.
  • Mold resistance: Understand that well designed and constructed masonry walls provide no food for mold and can eliminate water quickly.
  • Fire resistance: Understand that passive fire resistance, such as that provided by masonry, cannot be accidentally deactivated.
  • Environmentally responsible manufacturing: Understand that masonry has a long history of sustainable production methods.
