Precast concrete can be divided into three basic categories:
Architectural, which primarily represents building façades. However in addition to the façade, the precast cladding may also provide the building envelope including glazing, vapor barrier, insulation, and interior walls.
Structural, where the primary use is the support of gravity loads in buildings or bridges.
Standard Precast, which includes electrical vaults, pole bases, highway barriers, and parking curbs.
