The Davenport Cement Plant has been producing materials for the construction industry since the Dewey Portland Cement Company built the plant on the shore of the Mississippi River near the small town of Buffalo, Iowa, in 1927. Martin Marietta purchased the facility in 1962 and sold the plant to Cementia in 1983.
