The Davenport Cement Plant has been producing materials for the construction industry since the Dewey Portland Cement Company built the plant on the shore of the Mississippi River near the small town of Buffalo, Iowa, in 1927. Martin Marietta purchased the facility in 1962 and sold the plant to Cementia in 1983. The plant became a part of Lafarge North America in 1991.  While production of cement is essential to perfecting the mix that creates concrete, the Davenport Cement Plant describes its entire operations as the "the perfect mix" of innovative people, quality products and a beautiful place.  Like Lafarge facilities all over North America, the Davenport Plant is committed to being a good neighbor, serving as an active, positive force in the community, and working toward safer, cleaner and greener operations.
