Lafarge Upgrades Logistics to Support Customer Demand in Dakotas

Deal inked to build cement transloading facility in Williston, ND

Valley City, ND - To better serve customers amidst growing demand for its construction material solutions in the Dakotas, Lafarge North America, Inc. is investing in a storage facility and terminal on a new rail spur on the east side of Williston, North Dakota. New Frontier LLC is the developer of the East Valley Rail project.

The facility will support 30,000 tons of cement storage moving more efficiently into the area and strengthen Lafarge's network of terminals in the Dakotas and serving the Bakken area. A concrete dome will be built to assure environmental containment of the cement.

Lafarge's cement is used in the area to support the oil and gas industry with soil stabilization for roads and extraction sites as well as well drilling. Cement is also critical to serving the growing population with infrastructure, housing, schools and hospitals.

"This facility allows Lafarge to support the Dakotas in a sustainable manner in terms of permanent solution and one that relieves truck traffic from the heavily trafficked Highway 2. Cement is the binder in concrete which is critical for industrial and residential economic development in the Dakotas. With this upgrade we are proud to help build better cities," comments Roy Sander, General Manager- Lafarge Dakotas.
