Lafarge Relocates Western Canada Headquarters to Redeveloped Quarry

Calgary, AB

Lafarge Canada Inc.

Ten years after rehabilitating its gravel pit on the Bow River in Calgary and subsequently selling the land to Remington Development Corporation in 2005, Lafarge Canada Inc. has moved its Western Canada headquarters to Quarry Park.

"This is really a full lifecycle story, explains René Thibault, CEO of Lafarge in Western Canada.  We were able to extract the aggregates from the site, put them to use in Calgary's roads and buildings and then repurpose the land to be valuable to a developer.  Randy Remington, CEO of Remington Development saw the potential and has built a world class community which we are proud to call home once again."

Lafarge is a world leader in sustainable development having consistently set stretch ambitions since 2007.  One area of focus is ensuring that all sites have rehabilitation plans to either return extraction sites to nature or prepare them for a second use as is the case at Quarry Park.

Communities where one can live, work and play are emblematic of thoughtful, sustainable design. Lafarge is now directing its aggregates, asphalt and paving, cement and concrete activities throughout the Western Provinces, Dakotas and the Pacific Northwest from the Quarry Central building at 115 Quarry Park Road.

100 Lafarge employees will enjoy amenities such as a LEED certified workplace as well as proximity to shopping, restaurants and exercise trails.
