Lafarge Expands its Activities in the Mississippi River Region Through an Asset Exchange with Martin Marietta

Westminster, CO

Lafarge North America Inc.

Lafarge North America announces an asset exchange agreement of its aggregates, ready-mix concrete and asphalt & paving operations in the Colorado Front Range and Wyoming markets with Martin Marietta.  As part of this transaction, Lafarge will receive Martin Marietta's aggregates quarries and distribution facilities along the Mississippi River as well as a cash payment.  This earnings-positive transaction will enable Lafarge to optimize its industrial network in order to better serve its customer base in this markets area.

The Martin Marietta assets that Lafarge will receive include aggregates sites located along the Mississippi River in the states of Mississippi,  Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri, as well as distribution yards along the lower Mississippi River and associated barging equipment.  The Lafarge assets to be exchanged include aggregates sites, along with ready-mix concrete and asphalt plants.

Lafarge has a strong presence in the United States and Canada, where it is a leading diversified supplier of construction materials.  This asset exchange, subject to regulatory approval, complements Lafarge's current network of operations along the Mississippi River.  These sites will create additional synergies among all Lafarge operations in the region.
