Lafarge and Columbia University Launch New Book Focused on Concrete's Reemergence in Architecture

Yesterday, Lafarge, in partnership with Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), announced the launch of Solid States: Concrete in Transition, a book that examines the use of concrete in today's architecture.


Compiled after the 2008 conference at Columbia University called Solid States: Changing Time for Concrete, the book calls upon a diverse group of experts to examine concrete's reemergence at the cutting edge of contemporary architecture, engineering and design.


Yesterday's event featured presentations by key members of GSAPP faculty and staff, as well as Lafarge's Director of Research and Development Pascal Casanova. "We are proud to partner with Columbia University, and to sponsor this book's publication," says Casanova. "Solid States is a tremendously valuable resource for the building community, as innovations in concrete continue to expand both its versatility and its potential to become a material of choice in sustainable construction and development."
