Lafarge North America Names New Leadership Appointments Within Its West Business Unit, New President of Cement for the River Among Announcements

Cooper succeeds Alan Kreisberg, who moves to the Lafarge Group in France.

Lafarge North America and its subsidiary, Lafarge Canada, together, the largest diversified supplier of construction materials in the United States and Canada, recently announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) Cooper as President, West Cement Business Unit, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

 

Cooper joins Lafarge's West BU following ten years in senior management roles in the UK and the US, where he held roles in cement manufacturing management and logistics. Prior to Lafarge, Cooper worked as an electrical engineer and in mine management, after obtaining his academic education at the University of Wyoming.

 

In his new role, Cooper will be responsible for 3 of Lafarge's cement plants located in Exshaw, Alberta, Richmond and Kamloops, B.C. and Seattle, WA (recently downsized from a manufacturing plant, to a grinding and distribution facility) and for 20 cement and fly ash terminals.

Barry Martin

VP Marketing and Sales, West Cement BU

 

On July 1, 2010 Barry Martin assumed his newly appointed role of VP Marketing and Sales. Martin joins the West BU from the Boston, MA area, where he was District Sales Manager, New England for 7 years. Relocating to New England shortly after the 2001 acquisition of Blue Circle, Martin was responsible for transitioning the Blue Circle sales organization. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick.

 

Peter Calcetas

Regional Marketing Director, West Cement BU

 

Peter Calcetas was been appointed to the role of Regional Marketing Director for the West BU as of September 1, 2010. Calcetas is a Professional Engineer and Member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Strategy and a Masters of Engineering from Concordia University in Montréal. Calcetas joined Lafarge's A&C Division in 2000 and soon after became a member of the Ductal® team, Lafarge's Ultra High Performance Concrete brand, where he was most recently the Director of Business Development.

 

Chris Clow

Director of Human Resources, West Cement BU

 

Chris Clow assumed a new appointment as Director of Human Resources in July 2010, after joining the West Cement BU as Regional Marketing Director in 2008. His Lafarge career began in 1999 at the Bath, Ontario plant in Quality Control; in 2003 he moved into Technical Sales in the Ontario District, and became Assistant Sales Manager for the Lake Ontario District in 2007. Clow holds a Materials and Metallurgical Engineering degree from Queen's University and is a Professional Engineer in Ontario and Alberta.
