Lafarge's Fredonia Cement Plant Lets Its Community Pride Hang High Through Local Flag Pole Project

Fredonia, Kansas

Lafarge North America Inc.

This fall, Lafarge Midwest, a subsidiary of Lafarge North America, had the privilege of saying "thank you" to the people of Fredonia, KS for their continuous support of Lafarge's Fredonia cement plant.

During the summer, Fredonia officials approached Lafarge for assistance in conducting major maintenance on the tall flag pole located at Flag Park. Sean Brennan, the Lafarge Fredonia Plant Manager, immediately agreed to help.

Over the period of two weeks in September, the employees and management of the Lafarge Fredonia cement plant had the privilege of working with Fredonia's Flag Restoration Committee, the City of Fredonia maintenance teams, Alert Construction, TCI Fabrication and Relph's Machining in the restoration of Flag Park in Fredonia, KS. The efforts of those involved resulted in the repair of the 97' tall flag pole and the restoration of all park lights and rails.

"Working on community projects like this one provide a great source of pride for all our Lafarge employees," said Sean Brennan, Fredonia's Plant Manager. "It's our chance to say thank you to the community for their support over the years and our chance to give back."
