More information on Rapid Deco® Level 5™ System
The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore celebrated the 100th anniversary of its original Palazzo Building by installing newly designed galleries for Renaissance & Baroque art. This expansive space features high ceilings and huge skylights which cast natural light on the masterpieces hung below.
For a perfect finish Lafarge Rapid Deco® Level 5™ System was specified. Rapid Deco consists of a skim-coated drywall and matching joint compound that are identical in both texture and absorption. When used together, the result is a uniform surface across the finished wall. The Rapid Deco Level 5 System is an optimal solution for light-critical areas where the wall surface must appear completely seamless.
The Rapid Deco System also saves time and money by providing a Level 5 finish in the same number of steps that it takes to do a Level 4. The factory-applied, skim-coated drywall and matching joint compound eliminate the need for a field-applied skim coat application, consequently reducing installation time and job site mess.
“The Rapid Deco System provided some significant advantages,” described John Whitehead, Lafarge’s area Sales Manager. “The Museum wanted the renovation process to be fast and provide minimal disruption, plus install as dust-free as possible to protect artwork in other parts of the Museum.”
Following installation, the walls were textured and painted for a flawless finish that would have been difficult to create without Rapid Deco. Plus, the application was accomplished in a swift and efficient manner.
