Community

At the Tulsa Plant, community wellness is a central focus. In Lafarge culture, community wellness means more than ensuring safe and environmentally friendly procedures at the Plant – it means contributing to the vitality of our community. The Tulsa Plant’s Community Investment Program connects our employees with several opportunities to enrich our community.

As such, the Tulsa Cement Plant is a proud supporter of the Nature Conservancy of Oklahoma, Tulsa Transit's Ozone Alert Program, Rogers State University, our local Chambers of Commerce, and several other organizations.

Additionally, the Tulsa Cement Plant developed and funded the Oklahoma Rocks & Minerals Program, presented to area fifth-grade classrooms to introduce state-specific natural resources and their uses.  Since its launch in 2008, over 44 area classrooms and 1100 students have participated, and several surrounding schools are scheduled for 2009 and beyond.

Join the Lafarge North America Tulsa Cement Plant team and area elementary schools Saturday, June 5 at the first-ever Rock Block Party!  We’re celebrating the success and impact of our Oklahoma Rocks & Minerals Program, a science-based curriculum Lafarge provides for fifth graders in Catoosa, Owasso and Tulsa schools.  The program has graduated 1,293 students from 13 schools since its inception in fall 2008.  So, there’s plenty to celebrate!

The community open house also will focus on safety education and provide fun for the whole family.  You’ll be able to enjoy free food and beverages, Oklahoma Rocks & Minerals mini-sessions taught by Lafarge employees, tours of the cement plant, fun outside activities for the kids, fossil hunts, photos with a 992-G loader and safety education programs from the Catoosa Fire Department.
