CONCRETE PIPE • ASTM C 444 Perforated Concrete Pipe: Covers perforated concrete pipe intended to be used for underdrainage in sizes 100 mm (4 inches) and larger. • ASTM C 478 Precast Reinforced Concrete Manhole Sections: Covers precast reinforced concrete manhole risers, grade rings and tops to be used to construct manholes for storm and sanitary sewers. • ASTM C 505 Nonreinforced Concrete Irrigation Pipe with Rubber Gasket Joints: Covers pipe to be used for the conveyance of irrigation water with working pressures, including hydraulic transients, of up to 90 m (30 feet) of head. Higher pressures may be used up to a maximum of 150 m (50 feet) for 150 mm (6inch) through 300 mm (12-inch) diameters, and 120 m (40 feet) for 375 mm (15-inch) through 450 mm (18-inch) diameters by increasing the strength of the pipe. • ASTM C 506 Reinforced Concrete Arch Culvert, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe: Covers arch concrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrial waste, and storm water and for the construction of culverts in sizes from 375 mm (15-inch) through 3300 mm (132-inch) equivalent circular diameter. Larger sizes are available as special designs. • ASTM C 507 Reinforced Concrete Elliptical Culvert, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe: Covers elliptically shaped concrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrial waste and storm water, and for the construction of culverts. Five standard classes of horizontal elliptical, 450 mm (18 inches) through 3600 mm (144 inches) in equivalent circular diameter; and five standard classes of vertical elliptical, 900 mm (36 inches) through 3600 mm (144 inches) in equivalent circular diameter are included. Larger sizes are available as special designs. • ASTM C 655 Reinforced Concrete D-load Culvert, Storm Drain and Sewer Pipe: Covers acceptance of pipe design and production pipe based upon the D-load concept and statistical sampling techniques for concrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrial waste and storm water and construction of culverts. • ASTM C 789 Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Sections for Culverts, Storm Drains and Sewers: Covers box sections with 2 or more feet (600 mm) of earth cover when subjected to highway live loads, and zero cover or greater when subjected to only dead loads, to be used for the conveyance of sewage, industrial waste, and storm water, and for the construction of culverts in sizes from 9 m (3 foot) span by 6 m (2 foot) rise to 36 m (12 foot) span by 36 m (12 foot) rise. • ASTM C 850 Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Sections for Culverts, Storm Drains and Sewers with Less Than 2 Feet of Cover Subjected to Highway Loadings: Covers box sections with less than 2 feet of earth cover for the conveyance of sewage, industrial waste, and storm water, and for the construction of culverts in sizes from 9 m (3 foot) span by 6 m (2 foot) rise to 36 m (12 foot) span by 36 m (12 foot) rise.
